‘Q contents’ is written in a large font over a
red background as a strip at the top of the page. The ‘Q’ is in the same font
as the masthead on the front cover and it is also written in white again the
same as the main logo. The word ‘contents’ is written in a black skinny font
making it look rather professional. The date is written in white italics above
the word contents over the red strip, this is helpful to the reader as they
then know whether the articles are up to date or not. A reasonably large
picture of Kings of Leon has been placed at the top of the page and their heads
slightly cover the ‘Q contents’ title to the contents page, a yellow circle
lies over the leg of one of the band members and written over the circle says
‘Cover Story’ to remind people that it is the main article advertised on the
front cover. The page numbers for each article are written in a larger black
font to the text given for each article allowing them to stand out. The titles
for each article are written as the musician’s name in a red font smaller than
the page numbers. There is a strip flush right with a title which is ‘Q review’
again the ‘Q’ is written in a white font whereas ‘review’ is written in a black
font, underneath is written ‘the world’s finest music guide’ this is a puff as
it boosts the status of the magazine. The ‘Q review’ includes new albums,
reissues, live and film and the names of who is involved in each title written
underneath. Pictures have been scattered around the page to show up different
articles, each picture is different for example, there is a polaroid looking
picture of five people which highlights a certain article. The background of
the entire page is white and there is only negative space as a strip at the
bottom and down the right side of the page. The layout of the contents page is neat yet laid back giving it a welcoming
feel for the reader, it is also extremely easy to read with all the information
you need on one page.
